METHOD FOR DETECTING BLOCK BOUNDARY AND APPARATUS THEREOF

PURPOSE: A method for detecting a block boundary and an apparatus thereof are provided to reduce effects of vertical straight lines within an image. CONSTITUTION: Block boundary information is extracted based on a horizontal local maximum value(1030). The block boundary information is accumulated to the vertical direction(1040). A horizontal low pass filtering is operated(1050). A peak value is determined(1060). An inter-peak distance is determined in order to predict the size of the block(1070). The size of the block boundary is predicted(1080).
