<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means capable of suppressing corrosion of a positive electrode collector in a lithium ion secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: A lithium ion secondary battery 10 has a power generation element 21 which includes unit cell layers 19. Each unit cell layer includes: a positive electrode comprising a positive electrode active material layer 15 formed on a surface of a positive electrode collector 12; a negative electrode comprising a negative electrode active material layer 13 formed on a surface of a negative electrode collector 11; and an electrolyte layer 17 interposed between the positive electrode active material layer and the negative electrode active material layer and containing a liquid electrolyte. At least one of the positive electrode collectors contains stainless steel, and the liquid electrolyte contains dodecaborate fluoride expressed by the following chemical formula 1, Li<SB>2</SB>B<SB>12</SB>F<SB>x</SB>H<SB>12-x</SB>.
