PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a switching power supply which can quickly discharge the charges accumulated in an electrolytic capacitor, immediately after the AC input is turned off. SOLUTION: The switching power supply includes an ACDET circuit 6, which detects a voltage value applied to a desired position of the circuit on the primary winding n1 side, and a discharge circuit connected in parallel with the electrolytic capacitor C1. The discharge circuit is a series circuit of a discharge element 1 that discharges the electrolytic capacitor C1 and a change-over switch 4.
