PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission belt provided with an annular metal cord capable of maintaining a wound shape without generating slackening of twisting even in a continuous repeated load, hardly generating breakage, and manufactured easily, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: This transmission belt B1 includes the annular metal cords C1 serving as a tension member, and a coating part 70 for coating the annular metal cords C1, an original code 20 twisted at least five strand materials 1 is detwisted, in the annular metal cords C1, a slack part 1e of one of the strand materials 1 is engagedly wound into an pulled-out spiral cavity part 5 of the other strand material 1 while formed into an annular shape, so as to form an annular shape, a portion 1c crossed and wound each other with both terminals 1a, 1b is put into a hollow part C1a formed in the winding center of the strand material 1, and further the slack parts of the both terminals 1a, 1b are stored in the hollow part C1a.
