PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knock type mechanical pencil which can give sufficient cushioning force when a writing pressure generated by the pressing of a lead 2 to a paper surface, is received by a cushion, and can protect the lead 2 without disturbing writing by interlocking the lead guide 9 with the transfer of the lead 2. SOLUTION: The knock type mechanical pencil includes the cushion constructed of a cushioning member 6 attached to a connector 5 which receives a fastener 4 fitted outwardly to a head part 1A of a chuck 1. Further, a lead holder 10 is fixed to the lead guide 9, then the lead guide 9 and the lead holder 10 are slidably built in the longitudinal direction inside an apex member 8, and thus, the lead holding power of the lead holder 10 can be made stronger than the frictional force between the lead holder 10 and the apex member 8.
