PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a possibility of a leaping phenomenon of an optical scanner having a nonlinear characteristic, and to obtain a large optical swing angle of the optical scanner. SOLUTION: In the optical scanner, whether the optical swing angle is within a predetermined value of an angle or not is determined (SA3). If the optical swing angle is determined not to be within the predetermined value (SA3: No), whether the optical swing angle is smaller than the predetermined set value of an angle or not is determined (SA4). If the optical swing angle is determine to be smaller than the set value (SA4: Yes), a voltage Vt of a drive signal DS is increased by a voltage variation amount 0.1 volt (SA5).
