Disclosed is an articulated region detection device (100) comprising a subclass classification unit (105) for classifying a plurality of motion trajectories into a plurality of subclasses; a distance calculation unit (106) for calculating, for each subclass, the two-point distance and the geodesic distance between that subclass and another subclass; and a region detection unit (107) for detecting as regions having articulated motion on the basis of two-point distance changes with time and geodesic distance changes with time for two arbitrary subclasses, two subclasses to which motion trajectories belong which correspond to two regions performing articulated motion which are connected by way of the same joint.
