PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for performing frequency domain clipping on OFDM symbols are provided to perform frequency domain clipping through a optimum method in consideration of the usage of data to be modulated in an OFDM symbol. CONSTITUTION: In a method and an apparatus for performing frequency domain clipping on OFDM symbols, a modulation unit(110) receives a plurality of data(D1-DN), modulates them respectively, and generates a plurality of data symbols. An IFFT block(120) performs IFFT of the plural data symbols to generate a plurality of OFDMs(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbol(x(1)-x(N)) A P/S block(130) receives the plural OFDM symbol in parallel and generates the OFDM symbols which are arranged in series. A PAPR(Peak to Average Peak Ratio) reduction block(140) performs a time domain clipping in the OFDM symbols. An antenna(150) wirelessly transmits the series of the OFDM symbol which are generated from the PAPR reduction block.
