<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil seal which is increased in durability even when used under severe conditions, in which the oil seal is exposed to muddy water by preventing water from intruding thereinto which may cause the entry of dust. <P>SOLUTION: This muddy water-proof oil seal is sealingly fixed to one 101 of an outer peripheral member and an inner peripheral member which are generally coaxially disposed and rotatable relative to each other. The distal end of the oil seal includes one or more seal lips which are slidably brought into close contact with a sealing element 2 on the other member 102 side. A water-repellent coat layer 23 which is relatively positioned on the atmosphere side and is formed of a water-repellent substance and a lipophilic oil coat layer 24 which is relatively positioned on a machine inner space side and is formed of a lipophilic oil substance, are continuously formed on the sliding surface of the outermost seal lip 12 or the sliding surface of the sealing element 2 on the other member 102 side which is brought into close contact with the seal lip 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
