PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a highly alkaline slurry capable of adjusting highly alkaline waste to a pH of the prescribed value of special control general waste or the like and capable of efficiently concentrating the highly alkaline slurry to high concentration by removing heavy metals. SOLUTION: The method for treating the highly alkaline slurry is constituted so as to slurry highly alkaline waste with a pH of 11-14 containing salt components and heavy metal components to treat the same and includes an elution process S1 for adding water to the waste in an amount of 5-20 times to form a slurry to thereby elute the soluble components in the waste, a strong acid solution mixing process S2 for adding a strong acid solution to the slurry to adjust the pH of the slurry to 9.1-10.9, a flocculation reaction process S3 for adding a high-molecular flocculant, a concentration process S4 for performing the concentration and desalting of the slurry, a concentrated slurry discharge process S5 for discharging the concentrated slurry concentrated to a predetermined level from a slurry concentration tank and a dehydration process S6 for converting the concentrated slurry to a dehydrated cake.
