PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ventilator for a sliding door which can sufficiently ventilate while suppressing the intrusion of insects and others from the outside and which has a superior insect-proof property and crime prevention property. SOLUTION: In this ventilator attached to a sliding door 5 installed in the opening 1 of a building, a ventilation panel 7 used also to prevent insects is openably attached to an opening frame 2 on the side opened by the sliding door 5 installed in the opening 1 of the building. The ventilation panel 7 has a width corresponding to the opened width of the sliding door for ventilation, and a surface plate 12 installed on the panel frame 11 is formed of a metal perforated plate which has a large number of small ventilation holes 12a with insect-proof function. The ventilation panel 7 includes a fixing mechanism 14 for fixing the ventilation panel at the closed position along the sliding door and an engagement mechanism 16 which is installed on the distal end of the ventilation panel and restricts the further opening of the sliding door by engaging with the sliding door opened by a ventilation width.
