PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple process for producing excellent pearlescent compositions having a wide range of pearlescent gloss. SOLUTION: The process for producing a pearlescent composition includes a step of adding, to a solubilized or emulsified product of a fatty acid glycol ester, an ingredient having a desolubilizing or demulsifying effect in a temperature range from a crystallization temperature to a melting temperature of the fatty acid glycol ester.
