PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless communication apparatus which operates in accordance with a type of its own node thereby reducing data transmission delay, in a wireless network. SOLUTION: The wireless communication apparatus performs data communication processing with another wireless communication apparatus over a wireless network including a plurality of movable wireless communication apparatuses. The wireless communication apparatus has: a node determining unit for determining whether or not the wireless communication apparatus is a relay node for relaying data, based on control information of the wireless network; and a communication system setting unit for setting a communication system of the wireless communication apparatus based on a result of the determination by the node determining unit.
