PURPOSE: A solar cell and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to increase the efficiency of a solar cell by preventing a current leakage and the recombination of charges through a dielectric layer. CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor substrate(110) includes a lower semiconductor layer(110a) and an upper semiconductor layer(110b). An insulation layer(112) is formed on the semiconductor substrate. A plurality of front electrodes(120a) are formed on the insulation layer. A dielectric layer(130) is formed on the lower side of the semiconductor substrate. A rear electrode is formed on the lower side of the dielectric layer.
