PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for updating software are provided to efficiently perform software update in a broadcast network. CONSTITUTION: A signaling for updating a software is received from a data server(S700). A P2P(Peer to Peer) transmission information for updating the software is included in the signaling. The data is downloaded from the data server and one or more broadcast receiving terminal into a block unit(S710). If the whole block download corresponding to the data is completed, the software update is performed by the update command of the tracker(S716).
