PURPOSE: A rear message display device for a vehicle and a method thereof are provided to automatically output a pre-stored message to the rear message display device, thereby transferring the intention of a driver to the driver of the following vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A steering angle sensor(101) senses the steering angle of a driver steering wheel. A navigation touch screen input unit(107) and an etiquette LED display(115) display an etiquette message to enable a driver to input a message. An LED driving unit(109) drives the etiquette LED display. An acceleration sensor(117) senses the horizontal and vertical acceleration of a vehicle. A font ROM(119) stores the font of a letter which is displayed on the etiquette LED display.
