PURPOSE: A bicycle air bag device and a driver protection method thereby are provided to give no inconvenience in using bicycle in normal times, and to protect the user by air back being inflated only in the accident situation. CONSTITUTION: The bicycle air bag device includes: a bulge part; a pipe; an inflater; a sensor part; and a control part. The bulge part is installed close to the saddle of the bicycle, and is formed of the air bag and the air bag case which subsides the air bag(110). The pipe is connected to the air bag and transmits the compressed air inside the air bag. The inflater(300) is connected to the at least one of the other end of the pipe, and exhausts the compressed air. The sensor part(400) is installed in the bicycle and sensor the slope speed of the bicycle. The control par(500)t controls the exhaust of the compressed air according to the slope speed information being more than the prescribed critical value or not.
