PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce the brightness of black by discharging abnormal charges accumulated in the liquid crystal display device by changing a gate low voltage in an initial driving operation. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal panel displays an image. A gate driving unit(130) supplies a gate signal to a liquid crystal panel(120). A data driving unit(140) supplies a data signal to the liquid crystal panel. A timing controlling unit(150) supplies a gate control signal to the gate driving unit and an RGB signal and a data control signal to the data driving unit. A power supply unit supplies a driving voltage to the data driving unit.
