APPARATUS FOR GENERATING SOFT DECISION FOR USE IN SYSTEM EMPLOYING CHANNEL DECODER

PURPOSE: An apparatus for making soft decision is provided to stabilize a system by eliminating a division operation from the process of soft decision making and reducing receiver complexity. CONSTITUTION: A channel decoder comprises a symbol demapper(230) and a quantizer(260). A complex soft decision making unit(220) generates a complex soft decision value. The apparatus for soft decision making includes the apparatus for making a complex soft decision which unites the role of a soft decision part with an equalizer and generates the complex soft decision value. A signal passing the quantizer is delivered to a channel decoder(270). A calculating process is operated with a channel element in the symbol demapper and the quantizer.
