PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce heat due to a specific image pattern by controlling precharge according to the channel of a data drive IC. CONSTITUTION: A timing controller generates image data of a frame unit by arranging an image signal from the outside. A plurality of data drive ICs(120) supplies image data to a preset number of data lines of a liquid crystal panel. A precharge controller(130) analyzes the brightness pattern of the image data supplied to the data lines and generates precharge control data with a precharge method applied to the plurality of data drive ICs based on the brightness pattern analysis result of the image data. The data drive IC selectively applies the precharge method of the image data supplied to the data lines according to the preset number of channels based on the precharge control data. |
