PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for measuring the thickness of a stave of a furnace are provided to precisely measure the thickness of a stave through a cooling water path. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for measuring the thickness of a stave of a furnace comprises a sensing unit(120) and a main body. The sensing unit is inserted into a cooling water path(22) formed in a stave(20) and has an extension member curved depending on the shape of the cooling water path. The sensing unit receives ultrasonic waves reflected from the stave and transmits the ultrasonic waves. The main body is connected to the sensing unit and computes and displays the thickness of the stave depending on the transmitted ultrasonic waves.
