PURPOSE: A process for preparing 5-ortho-tolylpentene is provided to maintain the dispersibility of sodium/potassium and a conversion ratio of ortho-xylene using a sonication system and to enhance reactivity by injecting 1,3-butadiene diluted with nitrogen into two pipes. CONSTITUTION: A process for preparing 5-ortho-tolylpentene by reacting o-xylene with 1,3-butadiene in the presence of a sodium/potassium catalyst in a continuous stirring tank reactor comprises the steps of: uniformly dispersing ortho-xylene and sodium/potassium catalysts into each reactor; and diluting the dehydrated 1,3-butadiene in nitrogen, and injecting the diluted 1,3-butadiene into the reactor.
