A pipe connector comprises a body 2, a cap 16 mounted thereon, and a collet 22 for releasably clamping a pipe 12, the collet having a release / moving means 25 which in a releasing position enables a pipe to be released and in a securing position (shown) enables a pipe to be secured, and a guard 28 rotatable relative to the collet between a locked (shown) and unlocked state, wherein in the locked state the moving/release means (flange 25 of collet) is maintained in the securing position, and allowed to move to the releasing position in the unlocked state. Preferably, the guard ring comprises cam surfaces which ride on complementary cam surfaces on the cap. The cam surfaces may be undulating with peaks and troughs, or discontinuous (see figures 2, 3). Protrusions and notches may be provided to prevent rotation or axial movement of the guard ring. Colours may indicate the state 40 of the guard / protector ring. |
