摘要 An energy storage and recovery device for a vehicle, comprising a flywheel 4, first and second gear sets 6, 8, and wet multiplate clutches 10, 12 and (14, fig 2). The gear sets 6, 8 comprise gears (19, 21, 23) which mesh with a gear mounted on flywheel shaft 24 and gears, (20, 18, 22) that mesh with a gear mounted on shaft 17 which is coupled to an input shaft of a conventional vehicle transmission. The clutches 10, 12, (14) are coaxially located between the gears sets 6, 8 and are individually actuated, e.g. via actuators 40, 42, to engage gears (19, 20, 21, 22, 23) to shafts 17, 24 such that actuation of one of the clutches 10, 12, (14) redirects a torque path via the gears (19, 20, 21, 22, 23), thereby enabling multiple ratios. One of the clutches 10, 12, (14) is usually slipping to provide torque transfer from the flywheel 4 to the transmission or vice versa. The weight of the device is less than 20kg and lubricant is supplied to the clutches 10, 12, (14) and to the gears (19, 20, 21, 22, 23).
