PURPOSE: A freezing apparatus is provided to improve poor starting of a compression means and enhance stability. CONSTITUTION: A freezing apparatus includes a refrigerant circuit composed of a compression means, a gas cooler(46), a fastening means, and an evaporator, a bypass circuit, a valve device, and a controller. The bypass circuit connects the middle pressure region and a low pressure side of the refrigerant circuit. The valve device is provided to the bypass circuit. The controller controls the valve device. The controller opens the flow path of the bypass circuit according to the valve device for a period from when the compression means is started to when the frequency rises to a predetermined operation frequency.
