A HIGHWAY RAMP METERING SYSTEM FOR SOLVING NON-RECURRENT CONGESTION

PURPOSE: A lamp metering system for highway which can cancel non-repetitive congestion is provided to enable an administrator of a central control center to rapidly react. CONSTITUTION: Non-repetitive congestion comprises a traffic condition determining part and a lamp metering part. The lamp metering part performs a lamp metering by determining a metering rate after extracting an impulse speed from a traffic condition signal. Q2 is the average traffic amount of the upstream vehicles group 2. Q1 is the average traffic amount of the downstream vehicles group 1. K2 is the average density of the upstream vehicles group 2. K1 is the downstream vehicles group 1 average density. The metering rate is determined based on inverse correlation of the impulse speed.
