PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the management of the volume of a virtual hard disk file. SOLUTION: A file system corresponding to a virtual hard disk file is identified and a file size after an optimization process for the virtual hard disk file is calculated on the basis of the volume and size of the file system used, to calculate the volume and size that can be secured by the optimization process. More specifically, this is achieved by a management server and the management server has the following configuration: The management server is connected to a physical server that virtually forms a virtual server having a virtual hard disk. The management server includes a used volume obtaining part for obtaining the volume of the first file system used on the virtual hard disk, a file size obtaining part for obtaining the file size of the virtual hard disk file corresponding to the first file system, and a calculation part for calculating the optimized file size of the virtual hard disk file based on the difference between the volume used and the file size obtained.
