PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a square or an elliptic, sealed flat secondary battery hardly causing internal short circuit even when drop shock is applied and having high safety. SOLUTION: The sealed flat secondary battery includes a flat battery outer packaging can, a flat electrode body arranged inside the battery outer packaging can, a sealing plate 17 welded to seal an opening of the battery outer packaging can, and a spacer 15 arranged between the sealing plate 17 and the electrode body.
