PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely monitor the discharge state of a coating material of a coating apparatus while suppressing the installation cost. SOLUTION: In a method for monitoring the discharge state of the coating material by the coating apparatus 2 equipped with coating material supply sources 24, 26 and a coater 4 for discharging coating materials supplied by the coating material supply sources 24, 26 while atomizing the coating materials by a coating material atomization means 10, the coating material discharge state is determined based on the state quantity (e.g. the rotation number of a motor 70 rotating the coating material atomization means 10) of the coating material atomization means 10 changed in accordance with the discharge amount of the coating material by the coater 4.
