The invention relates to a biometric system for dwellings meant to restrict the access of unauthorized persons in certain rooms in a dwelling or to prevent the use of certain equipments or appliances by said persons. According to the invention, the system mainly comprises a fingerprint reader (CA) connected to a computer (PC) which interprets the data received from the fingerprint reader (CA) by means of a Visual Basic application, a data acquisition plate (PA) being connected to the computer (PC), said plate controlling, by means of a relay plate (PR) and a current amplifier (AC), an actuating element (EA) in order to permit the access of an authorized person, the control of the system and the visualization of the status thereof being carried out by means of a control panel (TC) provided with control buttons and signalling LEDs.
