The heat exchanger (1) has a housing (2) and an elongated, hollow element (3) wound around an axis (A) in spiral shape such that multiple windings (13) are formed adjacently. The hollow element comprises a supporting structure, which is made of material i.e. aluminum or aluminum alloy, and an inner coating, which is made of another material e.g. copper and polymer, which is brought in contact with utilizable water. The supporting structure has a pipe and a vane, which runs outside the pipe whose thickness is four times greater than thickness of the inner coating. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a heat exchanger.
