<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellulose ester retardation film that has high retardation developing properties and high transparency, and is not much affected by humidity changes, while causing less bleedout even under high temperature high humidity conditions; to provide a polarizing plate which uses the retardation film and has good durability; and to provide a durable liquid crystal display device by using the cellulose ester retardation film. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the cellulose ester retardation film that contains a polyester polyol only. The hydroxyl group content in the polyester polyol is 70 to 100% and is represented by the general formula (1), wherein: R is one selected from a halogen atom, alkyl group, cycloalkyl group, alkylcarbonyloxy group, alkylthio group, alkylcarbonylamino group, ureide group, alkylsulfonylamino group, alkylsulfonyl group, carbamoyl group, sulphamoyl group, hydroxyl group, cyano group, alkylsulfonamide group, alkylamino group, alkylsulfonylaminocarbonyl group, alkylcarbonylaminosulphonyl group and alkynylaminocarbonyl group; (n) is an integer of 0 to 4; (m) is an integer of 1 to 25; and (A) is an alkylene group having a side chain of a hydrocarbon group.
