PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a good quality of display even in circumstances of use at a low temperature and also to shorten the time of voltage treatments in changing a display in comparison with the conventional technique. SOLUTION: The driving method includes a step of applying a predetermined voltage to each pixel. A voltage is applied to each pixel based on conditions of voltage corresponding to display data, wherein when the temperature of the cholesteric liquid crystal is lower than a predetermined temperature, a voltage application time is extended from the voltage application time corresponding to the predetermined temperature, and when the temperature of the cholesteric liquid crystal is higher than the predetermined temperature, a voltage application time is shortened from the voltage application time corresponding to the predetermined temperature.
