PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce light leakage in a peripheral region of a bright region, when displaying an image including the bright region (bright region) and a dark region (dark region) on a liquid display device including an LED backlight. SOLUTION: A controller IC (12) acquires a brightness level of a unit region in each unit region based on image data of a pixel corresponding to the unit region, and allows an LED arranged in the unit region to emit light with a brightness corresponding to the brightness level of the unit region by a backlight driving circuit (10). In this case, the controller IC (12) restricts emission from the LED arranged in the unit region, when the brightness level of another unit region adjacent to the unit region is high.
