<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new light emitting device simultaneously improving both color unevenness and luminous output. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device includes: a semiconductor light emitting element including a semiconductor layer on a substrate, wherein the semiconductor layer includes a light emitting layer emitting primary light; and a phosphor layer absorbing a part of the primary light of the semiconductor light emitting element and emitting secondary light having a wavelength longer than that of the primary light. The light emitting device emits light having a mixed color of the color of the primary light of the semiconductor light emitting element and the color of the secondary light emitted from the phosphor layer, and further has a scattering layer in which particles having a mean particle diameter D are dispersed in a translucent medium, wherein D satisfies the inequality: 20 nm<D≤0.4×λ/π. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
