PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine more readily, rapidly and accurately the flaw of a digitized X-ray transmission image by putting the characteristics of a digital image to practical use so as to enhance the discrimination properties in consideration of the discrimination capacity of the eye of a human being. SOLUTION: When flaws in a specimen are to be determined from the digitized X-ray transmission image, the X-ray transmission image is subjected to pseudo-three-dimensionalization and the image turned pseudo-three-dimensionally is used to determined the flaws in the specimen. At this time, the pseudo-three-dimenionalization is performed by adapting a differential filter, so that the flaws to be detected can be shown as being more depressed, as compared with normal sections.
