The method involves flange-mounting two electric machines (3, 6) at input and output shafts (12, 13) of a vehicle transmission (2) by interconnecting two torque sensors (5, 8), respectively. Power delivered by the electric machines is determined as input power and output power of the transmission, respectively. Power loss of the vehicle transmission is determined from the difference between the input and output power. Torque acting on the vehicle transmission during operation is reproduced by one of the electric machines, where the vehicle transmission is coupled to a test stand (1).
