This invention provides a system and method for transmitting files between a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) Authentication and Privacy Infrastructure (WAPI) terminal and an application server. The method includes the following steps: when Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) messages are used to transmit file content between the WAPI terminal and the application sever, the transmission end encrypts, using a WLAN Privacy Infrastructure (WPI) algorithm, the file content to be transmitted, and transmits the file content after performing a digital signature on the file content to be transmitted; the reception end resolves out the file content after receiving the HTTP messages including the file content, and validates the digital signature; if the digital signature is validated successfully, the transmitted file content has not been modified. With the system and method for transmitting files between the WAPI terminal and the application server provided in the invention, the authentication process based on the WAPI certificate, the encryption of the transmission data, and the integrity protection function are accomplished without the modification of the HTTP protocol.
