Disclosed is a planar light-source device with improved heat-dissipation efficiency. Also disclosed are a display device and a method for manufacturing a planar light-source device. The disclosed planar light-source device is provided with: a light-guide plate (6); a bottom chassis (2) that has side surfaces that face side surfaces of the light-guide plate (6) and a back surface that faces the back surface of the light-guide plate (6); a plurality of LED modules (5) provided on the side surfaces of the bottom chassis (2) so as to face the side surfaces of the light-guide plate (6); and a flat heat pipe (10) on which the LED modules (5) are mounted. The flat heat pipe (10) runs from the side surfaces of the bottom chassis (2) to the back surface thereof, and on the side surfaces, the flat heat pipe (10) extends in the direction in which the LED modules (5) are arranged.
