PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably perform object monitoring processing with a simple structure. SOLUTION: A monitoring device includes: a first sensor group 20 constituted by arranging a plurality of first sensor cells having sensitivity in a far-infrared region, a second sensor group 30 adjacent to the first sensor group 20, manufactured by a substantially same process as for the first sensor group 20, and constituted by arranging a plurality of second sensor cells not having sensitivity in the far-infrared region, a differential signal acquiring means 40 for acquiring a plurality of differential signals corresponding to respective output signals of the first sensor cells and respective output signals of the second sensor cells on one-to-one basis, and a maximum value detecting means 50 for obtaining a maximum value signal from the plurality of differential signals.
