PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cost for operation in obtaining a color image using a single-plate color imaging element in an imaging apparatus for obtaining a focused color image, irrespective of the distance to a subject. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a lens optical system 12 for forming an image of a light from a subject; a single-plate color imaging element 13 having color filters of Bayer arrangement and imaging the formed subject image; and image processing parts 15, 16, 18 for subjecting the output data of the element 13 to the filtering processing for filtering the data through an image restoration filter 16 having a characteristic reverse to blur characteristic of the optical system 12, and then executing synchronization processing. In the imaging apparatus, the image processing parts 15, 16, 18 are configured to collect data except zero elements per channel of R, G, B, thereby forming reduced data sequence in which the amount of data is 1/4 for the R, B channels respectively and the amount of data is 1/2 for the G channel, and the filtering processing is executed using the image restoration filter 16 for the data constituting the reduced data sequence.
