PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for stably producing regenerated particles having properties necessary as a filler for papermaking or a pigment for coating. SOLUTION: The regenerated particle is produced by dehydrating, heat-treating and crushing a treating object 10, wherein the heat-treatment is carried out in divided steps including a first heat-treatment step (42), a second heat-treatment step (14) at a temperature higher than the first step, and a third heat-treatment step (32) at a further high temperature. The first heat-treatment (42) is carried out by using a horizontal rotary kiln, in which an expanding cylinder 42X expands its diameter toward a transfer direction from the end part on the side of a feeding port 42A and a constriction cylinder 42Y constricts its diameter toward the transfer direction to the end part on the side of a discharging port 42B, wherein the treating object 10 deposited on the inner surface of each cylinder part is indirectly heated by heating the outer surface of the expanding cylinder 42X, the constricting cylinder 42Y and an intermediate cylinder 42Z between the expanding and constricting cylinders.
