<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently perform assisting amount reduction control when post-boosting limit assist control for a vacuum booster is performed in a brake device equipped with the vacuum booster. <P>SOLUTION: The assisting amount reduction control is started as a pressure reduction condition is deemed to have been satisfied when the decreasing gradient of the master cylinder hydraulic pressure is a set gradient or more during efficacy characteristic control. On the other hand, when the assisting amount reduction control is started, a restart forbidding flag is made ON, however the start of the efficacy characteristic control is forbidden while the restart forbidding flag is ON.
