<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To position images at a high speed with a high degree of accuracy when pixel values, shapes, and imaging visual fields of the same region are different in positioning a first image and a second image acquired by different image pickup devices. <P>SOLUTION: For positioning the first image and the second image, one of the images (for example, second image) is divided into divisions (Step 204). A prescribed physical property value is set for the division (Step 205). An image (called as a pseudo image) having a pixel value, a shape, and an imaging visual field which are similar to the other image (for example, second image) is created (Step 207).
