EXO-S-MECAMYLAMINE FORMULATION AND USE IN TREATMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment for a nicotine reactive neuropsycological disturbance including administration of a pharmaceutically effective dose of exo-S-mecamylamine (a nicotine antagonist) or a pharmaceutically allowable salt of the same substantially free from exo-R-mecamylamine.

SOLUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for the nicotine reactive neuropsychiatric disorders includes a pharmaceutically effective dose of exo-S-mecamylamine (a nicotine antagonist) or a pharmaceutically allowable salt of the same substantially free from exo-R-mecamylamine in combination with a pharmaceutically allowable carrier. The preferred pharmaceutically effective dose of the agent is about 0.5 mg to about 20 mg.
