摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser beam machining apparatus and method preventing deterioration in quality of laser cut surface due to dross or the like by removing fusion gas, the dross or the like produced by laser cutting even when an assist gas can not be blown to an object to be machined coaxially with a laser beam with which the object to be machined is irradiated. <P>SOLUTION: When the laser beam from a laser oscillator is deflected and scanned by a remote head 20 and is applied to a member 2 to be machined to machine the member 2 to be machined, a first box body 3 with which the total laser beam irradiation range formed of a material capable of transmitting the laser beam is covered is arranged on a laser beam irradiation surface of the member to be machined, a second box body 4 with which the total of a part corresponding to the back surface of the laser beam irradiation range is covered is arranged on the back surface of the member to be machined, gas is supplied such that the interior of the first box body keeps a positive pressure, the interior of the second box body is evacuated such that the interior of the second box body keeps a pressure lower than the pressure in the interior of the first box body and, at the same time, the member to be machined is irradiated with the laser beam and is machined. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p>
