PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new document reading apparatus that can suppress the occurrence of color blurring. SOLUTION: A light source irradiates light of BR, BG, BB to an original P. A light receiving unit includes a plurality of light receiving elements Pd(m, n) which are arranged in a plurality of columns in a main scanning direction by receiving the light of BR, BG, BB reflected by the original P. A driving unit moves the light source and the light receiving unit at a speed V in a sub scanning direction for the original P. While a control unit switches the light of BR, BG, BB at every time T, and lets the light source radiate them; it selects the light receiving elements Pd(m, n) used for imaging in a column unit synchronizing the switching of the light of BR, BG, BB. A gravity center G of the light receiving elements Pd(m, n) used for imaging, moves a distance which is equal to a product of the speed V and the time T to an opposite direction of the sub scanning direction in the light receiving unit for before and after of the selection.
