PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device, capable of improving noise characteristic by reducing string vibration while avoiding the deterioration of efficiency or fuel economy which is caused by friction. SOLUTION: The power transmission device includes a vibration regulator 5 which regulates vibration of a power transmitting chain 4. The vibration regulator 5 includes a pressing member 21 which is disposed between a primary pulley 2 and a secondary pulley 3 to press a string portion of the power transmitting chain 4, and a controller 22 which controls the pressing force by the pressing member 21.
