PURPOSE: A water purification system using separation membrane and a method of the same are provided to have excellent water purification, to wash separation membraned effectively with relatively small amount of water, and to have simple configuration. CONSTITUTION: The water purification system includes: a process tank(10) in which the raw water flows in through feed water supply tube(12); a separation membrane which is vertically installed in a cylindrical form in the process tank; a processing water discharging pipe(30) in which suction pump(32) is connected and one end is located inside the separation membrane and discharging the filtered processing water, which has passed through the separation membrane, outside of the process tank; a first air supply pipe which is installed adjacently to the inside of the separation membrane and sprays air from inside of the separation membrane to the outside of the separation membrane outside; a second air supply pipe which is located in the bottom part of the process tank and spays air for aeration; and a cleaning water exhaust line(70) which is prepared in the process tank and discharges washed water to the separation membrane.
