In the froth flotation of minerals the frothing reagent is a tetra-ethoxy paraffin having in the paraffin chain two to five carbon atoms to any two of which are attached pairs of alkoxy groups from the series methoxy, ethoxy, normal propoxy and isopropoxy. The agents, e.g. 1.1.2.2 tetra ethoxyethane, 1.1.3.3 tetra ethoxy propane or 1.1.5.5 tetra ethoxy pentane, may be used with a xanthate as collector on sulphide ores.
